Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is a trust that is established for charitable purposes. Created in 1969 by U.S. Congress, a charitable remainder trust is designed to help non-profit organizations and charities generate more revenue for their causes. It is an irrevocable trust in which the donor, or beneficiaries designated by the donor, receive income from the trust for their entire life, or for a duration of up to 20 years, after which the trust is terminated and the trust corpus is distributed to the charity. There are many advantages of a charitable remainder trust for donors:

1. It may be established anytime during life or at death.

2. A fixed-income payout or a variable-income payout may be chosen for the beneficiary(ies).

3. The donor chooses the payout rate of the trust that is within certain legal limitations. By carefully doing so, the donor can optimize the charitable deduction or the payment amount.

American Kids Cancer Fund is a worthy nonprofit organization that can benefit from your charitable remainder trust. Our cancer-stricken children and their financially needy families will thank you for your donation.
