Mission Statement

American Kids Cancer Fund was founded to create awareness and provide financial assistance to families in need, whose children have been diagnosed with cancer and are undergoing treatment. Our grants encompass certain essential principles: helping the underprivileged, child-centered, family-focused, and participatory. Our goal is to be and create a positive experience for the parents and children that we serve, making sure these families and their deserving children are valued, have a voice and are not forgotten.


Grants

In providing assistance to the families of children with cancer, grants will be awarded for the following but not limited to:

Housing Grants are designed to pay rent or mortgage obligations in three-month increments to ensure that families have the peace of mind that they will not lose their homes. Grants are paid directly to the landlord or to the mortgage holder(s).

Transportation Grants to ensure that family members will be able to attend to the child's needs either in the hospital or through medical appointments. Grants are paid directly to the transportation provider who will bill AKCF for services rendered.

Childcare Grants to ensure that siblings are in a supervised environment while the parents are attending to the needs of the ill child. Grants are paid directly to licensed childcare providers who will bill AKCF for services rendered.

Counseling Grants to ensure that families are given as much psychological support as possible in their time of crisis. Grants are paid directly to licensed psychologists and therapists who will bill AKCF for services rendered.

Medical Grants to provide families with support for costs associated with hospital, hospice, and medical facility care. Grants are paid directly to facilities that will bill AKCF for services rendered.

Special Needs Grants to ensure that a family's dignity is maintained throughout the process. Grants are paid directly to the third party provider in these situations.
